Mile Marker #16When you really think about it, Santa Clause is actually in the transportation business. The toys that are made in the North Pole are shipped by sleigh to all children that didn't end up on the naughty list. And, when we open our gifts on Christmas morning, we can thank the men and women truck drivers who are a part of that. It's ironic, during the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, people get impatient or intolerant with the trucks on the road. Everybody just figures that the stuff they buy magically appears on the store shelves. Whether it's a wreath on the front grill, a lit miniature Christmas tree on the dash, or a stuffed Santa Clause riding shotgun, trucks make Christmas happen. We are Santa Clause!
The Postal Service and small package carriers are at their peak time, and rushed to get cards and gifts delivered before the big day. Unfortunately, this is the time of year our mail boxes get over-stuffed with extra gift of giving opportunities. Sorting through the holiday bills and Season's Greetings, you can always count on the scammers working over time and the daily credit card offers. If you are in the giving back mood, I have a little Christmas suggestion for the credit card offers. Simply, discard all of the envelope's contents, except for the self addressed envelope provided. There is no cost to you and the envelope is ready to mail. Some gift ideas could be a Sunday coupon for a Holiday glazed ham from your local grocer, any competing bank advertisements, or just a simple note saying " Merry Christmas". I always like to throw in a couple of cheerios or sunflower seeds for the letter openers. Lick the envelope and send it out. Ah ... the gift of giving...
I will close this 1st Annual Christmas Blog with a little Christmas trucking diddy I wrote. This is song # 2 out of 3 that I will be sharing with you. This does have a copy written demo and is in a song bank in Nashville with the Paramount Group. Again, for some ridiculous reason anybody is interested in this song, please contact me VIA E-mail. Drive safe and Merry Christmas from Road2Trucking.com
400 Horses
VERSE:
Woke up from a three hour rest
A winter storm came from the West
It's Christmas Eve
And I've got ice and snow
With a lot of miracle miles to make up
To see my little boy's face light up
These big ol' wheels move way to slow
VERSE:
It's a long ol' haul, but not by choice
So, I called home to hear his voice
I told him "Son, I won't be home tonight"
He said, " Dad your always gone"
Me and Mom are safe at home
So' don't you worry every thing's alright
CHORUS:
Oh, I wish that I had Santa's flying reindeer
I'd fly home in the big ol' shiny sleigh
All I got are 400 horses
And a lonesome Christmas feeling instead
And this big ol' shiny Pete all painted red
VERSE:
I pulled in at four A.M.
Happy to be home again
Oh, I feel I've run a million miles
Momma left the porch light on
I found him sleeping by the phone
These simple things just make it all worth while
CHORUS:
Oh, I wish that I had Santa's flying reindeer
We'd fly around the world in that ol' sleigh
But, all I've got is 400 horses
And a big ol' shiny Pete all painted red
I'd rather be home for Christmas instead
